India is a diverse country and just by surfing Facebook or Twitter we can never understand our nation and its people. The results of recent elections (UP, Manipur, Goa and Punjab) are testimony to it.
I will give you a small example. On February 24, Vishal Bhardwaj’s much anticipated & Kangana Ranaut starrer #Rangoon was released with average 4-star ratings from almost all critics and got much appreciation among certain section of audience. The film made on the budget of ₹60 crore by Sajid Nadiadwala was sold to Viacom18 for ₹67 crore. The film made around ₹20 crore in first weekend & by second week it was almost out of theatres & was even struggling to get screens. Cut to March 3, an action movie #Commando2 starring Vidyut Jammwal and few other non-famous actors was released. It was made on budget of around ₹16 crore & was bought by Reliance Entertainment for around ₹20 crore. The critics gave it maximum 1.5 stars ratings. But guess what, it made ₹15 crore in first weekend itself and by yesterday it had crossed ₹20 crore.
